Grenoble INP and LIG Laboratory invite applications for a PhD position (36 months)

Ubiquitous Public Data Service for Opportunistic Communications

The project proposes to explore the idea of an ubiquitous public data service for transmitting short messages over wireless networks.

Any user or source of the service will be able to send a short message at a very low rate to some destination address over various access networks: open 802.11hotspots, base stations of LTE, car-to-infrastructure stations of 802.11p.

The user or a device sends its message to the nearest wireless network at hand (for instance a 802.11 hotspot) that will forward it in a multihop way to the destination by the elements of the infrastructure network.

Applicants should have experience/knowledge in the following research areas:

  • Network protocols
  • Wireless networks, especially 802.11, 802.15.4

Pay Grade: 2000 euros gross.

(Note: The net amount after the standard pension, health care, and tax withholding amounts is typically 0.8 times the gross salary.)

Applicants should send a detailed curriculum and the names of 3 references to Andrzej.Duda@imag.fr.

Closing date for applications: December 1st, 2013.

Expected starting date: January 2014.
