Abstract:

PART I:

In this part, the CEO of BGI Group will be introducing the history and the advanced technologies of BGI.

In 1997, Prof. Yang Huanming, Yu Jun, Wang Jian and others proposed a set of forward-looking strategic ideas on China's participation in the Human Genome Project (HGP) in Zhangjiajie, Hunan. This gave birth to the development and future of Chinese genomics. Then in 1999, BGI was established for the Human Genome Project.

Stereo-seq technology is the latest breakthrough from BGI-Research to help scientists explore the mysteries of life like never before. Scientists have attempted to understand how cells work by studying the tiniest of details and understanding how each cell works in larger biological systems.

Technologies that allowed scientists to see detail at the nano-level could not provide similar insight for a wider field of vision. With the development of BGI’s Stereo-seq technology, scientists no longer have to conduct thousands and even tens of thousands of experiments to create a coherent spatiotemporal map of biological systems they are studying. Stereo-seq technology now enables scientists to see a new level of detail and is helping them understand how cells communicate and work in concert with one another across space and time.

PART II:

During this Lecture, the vice dean of BGI College and the executive director of BGI Research Europe will introduce about the internship programs, thesis projects, and scholarships for students at University of Belgrade prepared by BGI.

Come and meet us to discover more about the technologies and opportunities!
