The goal Understanding principles and mathematical models on which professional software in the field of planning, design and exploitation of different renewable energy sources is based.
The outcome Students are introduced to the modelling principles of different software for renewable energy resource assessment, production estimation, and renewable energy sources integration in microgrids and electric power systems. Students would acquire knowledge and basic skills for utilization of professional software in the field of planning, design and exploitation of renewable energy sources.

Contents of lectures Mathematical models used in commercial software for planning of microgrids based on renewable energy sources. Mathematical models used in commercial software for planning and design of wind and solar power plants. Modelling and calculating the effects of the connection of renewable energy sources to electric distribution and transmission networks by using professional software.
Contents of exercises Preparationg and processing of real measurement data regarding renewable energy resource potential at certain location. Planning of the optimal structure of renewable energy sources for a real microgrid by using dedicated software.

Methods of teaching Traditional lectures combined with electronic presentations. Excercises consist of demonstrative application of dedicated software on examples relevant for understanding the practical significance and the underlying models of renewable energy sources. Laboratory excercises consist of modelling and calculation on particular examples of different renewable energy sources.
