OT3SAU - Control Systems

Course specification
Course title Control Systems
Acronym OT3SAU
Study programme Electrical Engineering and Computing
Module Telecommunications and Information Technologies
Type of study bachelor academic studies
Lecturer (for classes)
Lecturer/Associate (for practice)
Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
ESPB 6.0 Status elective
Condition none
The goal Objective of the course is to inform the students about the techniques for modeling of continuous and discrete-time systems, to analyze their behavior (in time, frequency and complex domain), and how to make a proper choice of controller type and how to tune it.
The outcome Learning outcomes of the course are for students to have the following skills: to make an exhaustive analysis of continuous and discrete systems, to make simulation of its behavior either using input/output or state-space approach, to make stability analysis and to tune specific type of controllers.
Contents
Contents of lectures Modeling of electromechanical systems, characterization of continuous and discrete systems. Discretization of continuous systems. State-space models. Stability of continuous and discrete systems. Analysis and systems compensation using Bode diagrams. Design of conventional and some type of non-conventional regulators.
Contents of exercises Students have obligation to solve two practical problems in the laboratory (one is related to experiment with servo-mechanism with DC motor, the other is related to design of state observer using MATLAB program).
