The goal The students will be provided with the understanding of fundamental contemporary telecommunication principles, concepts and practices.
The outcome Students will be introduced to fundamental topics in the field of telecommunications, and will comprehend fundamentals and basic techniques of baseband and passband digital signal transmission. Students will be familiar with the basic concepts of modern telecommunication systems.

Contents of lectures Telecommunication system model. Spectral analysis. Linear systems. Random processes and noise. Principles of modulation. Signal digitization. Multiplexing and multiple access. Baseband digital data transmission. Intersymbol interference. Nyquist criterion. Optimal reception. Digital modulations. Elements of information theory and coding. Concepts of contemporary telecommunication systems.
Contents of exercises Auditory, laboratory and demonstration exercises. Individual or team work (optional) on projects and homework assignments.
