The goal Introduction of students with hardware of commercial and industrial computers. Introduction of students with tolls and services provided by Windows, Linux and RT Linux operating systems for control and measurement applications. Configuration and administration of computer networks.
The outcome Training of students to update and expand computers with standard and application-specific hardware. Training of students to use operating system tools and services in order to control computer resources.

Contents of lectures The basic configuration and application-specific extensions. Components, installation, disassembling . Types and specifications of microprocessors, socket types and heat-sinks. Power supply. Motherboards and buses. Chip sets. Interrupts, DMA and U / I ports, RS232, USB, and Fire wire. Windows, Linux and RT Linux. Operating system services. Networks.
Contents of exercises BIOS, configuration, updating. Memory types, conflict resolution. ATA/IDE interface, other standards. Hard and optical disks, data formats. Audio/video hardware, specifications. Monitor selection and configuration. Operating system services applications. Connection to local network and Internet. Testing and performance evaluation. Benchmarks.
