Condition Passed exam: Any of introductory electronics courses.
The goal To provide knowledge in analysis and design of digital devices and systems from applications point of view. Course is intended for candidates educated in non electronics departments. To introduce candidates with modern tools for hardware description - VHDL language. To familiarize candidates with actual technology of programmable integrated digital circuits and tools for design with them.
The outcome To familiarize candidates educated in non electronics departments with digital circuits as base of functionality and implementation of systems in fields of computer engineering, telecomunications, signal processing, automatics and energetics.
Contents
Contents of lectures Number systems and codes.Switching algebra.Synchronous state machine.Basic of HDL.Digital devices.Logic circuits.Overview of basic impulse circuits.Combinational circuits.Sequential circuits.Memories (ROM,PROM,EPROM,EEPROM,FLASH,RAM,cells and systems).A/D and D/A converters.Digital systems.Cellular circuits and complex programmable logic devices (FPGA,CPLD).
Contents of exercises Example of on board design [ 3 ]. Example of FPGA or CPLD design [ 3 ]. Application of VHDL [ 4 ].
