OS3HPS - Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems

Course specification
Course title Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
Acronym OS3HPS
Study programme Electrical Engineering and Computing
Module Signals and Systems
Type of study bachelor academic studies
Lecturer (for classes)
    Lecturer/Associate (for practice)
    Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
    ESPB 6.0 Status elective
The goal Introduce students to the basic notions and concepts of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Students will understand how these systems work, and what their advantages and disadvantages are.
The outcome Provide students with the ability to model the systems in order to solve practical problems ( like simulation and control ).
Contents of lectures Hydraulic fluid. Elements of hydraulic drive. Pumps and motors. Hydraulic valves. Valve controlled motor (or piston). Electro hydraulic servo valves. Torque motor. Mathematical models and simulation. Electro hydraulic servo systems. Pressure supply. Position servo system. Velocity servo. Nonlinearities. Theory of pneumatic fluid. Pneumatic servo drive. Applications.
Contents of exercises Lab work and homework assignments in the field of practical applications - modelling, simulation and control of hydraulic drives.
