The goal | Introduce Boolean algebra, switching functions, combinational and sequential switching circuits, logical and memory elements, combinational and sequential modules, and its usage in logic design of digital devices and computer systems. | |||
The outcome | By the end of this course, students will be able to: understand the structure of switching circuits; carry out the analysis and synthesis of switching circuits; use combinational and sequential modules, and construct smaller scale digital devices and simple computer systems. | |||

Structure, analysis and synthesis of combinational and sequential switching circuits. Standard combinational modules. Standard sequential modules. Logic design of computer systems. | |||
Contents of exercises | Examples of minimization of switching functions, analysis and synthesis of combinational and sequential circuits. Design of flip-flops. Circuit analysis combining with standard modules (multiplexer, demultiplexer, encoder, decoder, incrementer, decrementer, comparator, ALU, adder and substractor). Design of registers, counters and memory. Construction of a control unit for computer system. | |||
