    The goal Introduction of the basic concepts of digital protection of power system. Explanation of the basic methods for signal processing used in digital protection systems in high voltage substations.
    The outcome Students learn to design, use and maintenance of digital protection of power system elements.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Signal parameters estimation in power systems using the least squares technique, Newton's iterative method, Fourier method and zero-crossing method. Primary and secondary arcing fault detection on overhead lines. Numerical algorithms for directional relays based on the phase and amplitude comparisons.
    Contents of exercises Auditory exercises and computer exercises.
