The goal To introduce students with the design and operation of smart devices, networking technologies, application development and specific issues regarding security and data processing principles in IoT networks. To prepare students for networking and implementation of smart devices, platforms and smart environments, and to participate in development of solutions for different IoT application areas.
The outcome The students will aquire basic knowledge on IoT technology, design, operation and application of IoT devices, platforms and networks. This will provide foundation for further self-development in the field of IoT, use of existing IoT platforms, networking of IoT modules, IoT devices and applications development, design of intelligent environments and complete solutions for IoT applications.
Contents
Contents of lectures Principles of IoT and convergence of different concepts. Architecture and design of IoT networks. Smart devices and networking technologies. IoT network layer. Application protocols in IoT. Principles of IoT appplication development. Data processing and analysis in IoT networks. Security in IoT networks. Standardization in IoT networks. Practical examples of IoT networks.
Contents of exercises Practical exercises with a detailed overview of individual IoT network solutions. Practical classes, demonstrations and exercises in the laboratory. Independent or group (team) work on project design with presentation of results.
