The goal To provide students with understanding of basic telecommunication principles and practices.
The outcome At the end of the course, the students will be familiar with the basic topics in analog and digital telecommunications, baseband and passband signal transmission techniques and optimum signal receiving.

Contents of lectures Communication process. Spectral analysis. Characteristics of voice, music and TV signals. Noise sources, narrowband noise. Linear systems. Principles of analog modulation. FDMA. Sampling process. Pulse modulations. TDMA. Baseband digital transmission. Line codes. Intersymbol interference effect. Nyquist criteria. Optimum receiver. Digital bandpass modulation techniques: multilevel modulations.
