13E024AE2 - Power System Analysis 2

Course specification
Course title Power System Analysis 2
Acronym 13E024AE2
Study programme Electrical Engineering and Computing
Module
Type of study bachelor academic studies
Lecturer (for classes)
Lecturer/Associate (for practice)
Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
    ESPB 5.0 Status elective
    Condition no
The goal Provide students with knowledge on power system analysis methods for steady state and transient phenomena (load flow and stability calculations|).
The outcome Make students capable to apply these calculations on real power networks, to develop algorithms by their own and to evaluate the impact of calculations on system states.

Contents of lectures Load flow calculations. Power injection equations and solution methods (Gauss - Seidel, Newton, Stott, fast decoupled and DC methods). Power flow applications. Static, transient and voltage stability analysis. Solution methods for nonlinear differential swing equations. Characteristic examples of instability. Economical and thermal loadings of overhead lines.
Contents of exercises Teaching assistant auditory exercises with real time examples from power systems (power balance, voltage drop, reactive power calculations and short circuit calculations).
