The goal Introduce students to the basic concepts of Power system protection. Explain the basic of electromechanical, electronic and digital protection relays. Explain the basic concepts used in power system elements protection. Provide students with the ability to design, utilize and maintain protection systems of power system elements.
The outcome Students gain the ability to work with protective relays and their application in the power system.

Contents of lectures Protective relays of first, second and third generation. Protection of cables, generators, transformers, buses, motor and capacitor. Backup protection. Standard signif of power sistem protection functionshighlight.
