    The goal Basic concepts of electromechanical conversion.Operating principles of DC and AC machines.Construction and connections. Dynamic model. Air gap field and calculate the torque. Analyze the steady state operation and introduce equivalent circuits and mechanical characteristics. Ability to analyze and specify AC and DC motors and generators. Review the power supply and control requirements of EM.
    The outcome Introduction to the principles of electrical machines, understanding the fundamental aspects of construction machines for direct current and alternating current machines, knowledge of proper alternative scheme for the stationary state, the basic knowledge of the mechanical properties of individual machines. Acquiring skills in modeling, specification, and use of EM.
    Contents of lectures EM conversion, field energy, force and torque. Windings and magnetic circuits. Air gap field. Flux, airgap power and torque. DC and AC machine Steady state equivalent circuits and parameters. Dynamic model and equivalent circuits of AM and SM. Characteristics with constant freq. supply. The torque, P and Q formula. Variable freq. supplied machines.
    Contents of exercises Elements of the design principles of asihronih, synchronous and DC. Convention in labeling and rating. Mechanical commutation in dc machines. AC machines and electronic switching. Working induction motor fed from a source of variable frequency and voltage. The choice of an induction motor for a given application. Synchronous motor with permanent excitation.

    Methods of teaching 45 lectures, 14 hours of auditory exercises. 1 hour demonstration of laboratory exercises, aspects of construction machinery demonstration lab. EM specimens during lectures. 75 hours of independent work, of which 25 through optional seminars and discussions. Working with students 1:1 for 4 hours each week consultation.
