The goal | The project includes power transformer iterative design procedure for determining the basic dimensions and the characteristic, size, thermal calculation and basic technical drawing. The aim is to find power transformer (or reactor) design with a minimum consumption of material and optimal characteristics in terms of losses in the nominal operation.
The outcome | Because the aim of the project is to find the connection between constructional parameters and operational characteristics of transformers (or reactors), students are geathering necessery knowledge for proper selection, purchase and exploitation of power transformers which is needed for wide range of electrical engineering jobs.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The list of input variables and required diagrams for power transformer design. Providing the students with technical drawings of typical transformer. Regular weekly consultations.
Contents of exercises | The choice of materials and dimensioning of magnetic circuit and windings. Calculation of the no-load and load losses. Calculation of the temperature rise and dynamic short - circuit endurance test. Selection and sizing cooling system. Parameters of designed transformers and its operational characteristics. 3D drawings.
