The goal Students are introduced to the function and importance, types and structures, methods of analysis, synthesis and design of electrical drives. Attention is given to control of drives, and protection of people and equipment, an important issue in design, production and application of drives.Energy efficiency and environmental protection in the context of drive applications and usage.
The outcome Students capable of independent: • Analysis of drive operation in stationary and transient regimes • Modeling of drives • Selection of components for drives • Design of drives • Application of drives
Contents
Contents of lectures Introduction. Selection of motors for electrical drives. Drive as a dynamic system. Drives with DC motors: mathematical model; control; static characteristics, braking of the drive; dynamics. Actuators for DC drives. Drives with AC motors: mathematical model; static characteristics, braking, dynamics, control, vector control; Actuators for drives with AC motor.
Contents of exercises Stability of drive. Heating and cooling. Mathematical model of drive with the DC and AC motor: block diagram; control; static characteristics; braking. Computer methods for analysis and simulation of transients in drives. Vector control of AC motors. Lab exercises 1. Analysis of operation of drive with DC motor 2. Analysis of operation of drive with AC motors
