The goal Introduction students with basic principles of Internet infrastructure. Learning about principles of traffic routing on the Internet. Detailed analysis of organization and principles of working of major Internet routing protocols.
The outcome Students should be proficient to: • analyze by themselves routing process on network and troubleshoot problems, • do network design of WAN network by themselves of dozens remote locations and connect it to the Internet, • configure Cisco routers as a step in implementation of previously done network design, • define the realization of Internet services in the network.
Contents
Contents of lectures Internet development during the history.Basic elements of Internet architecture. Internet addressing for IPv4 and IPv6.Basic principles of DNS service (organization, implementation, practical examples).Traffic routing on the Internet.Major protocols for dynamic traffic routing: RIP, IGRP, RIPv2, OSPF, EIGRP and BGP-v4.Major Internet services: e-mail, web, web surfing, remote login, file transfer.
Contents of exercises Students will familiarize with practical work with Cisco communication equipment. They should do low level network design by themselves of IP WAN network which interconnects dozens of remote location sites and propose the way of implementation major Internet services.
