The goal | Introduction to the elements and concepts of computer systems of various complexity, starting from PCs to complex server infrastructures. Students will get acquainted with the concepts of computer architecture and organization, types and realization of operating systems, Internet services and virtualization, application of cloud computing, and basic concepts of artificial intelligence. | |||
The outcome | The student is familiar with terms and concepts in modern computing, such as computer architecture and organization, operating systems for PCs and mobile devices, the Internet, virtualization, and cloud computing. Through practical teaching, the student is able to create and format basic types of documents, such as text documents, documents with tabular calculations, and visual presentations. | |||

Contents of lectures | PC: hardware and software components. Operating system: basic modules, data organization, working with programs, graphical interface, OS for mobile devices. Internet and services, Internet addressing, web applications, Internet of things. Virtualization: basic concepts, server, and client systems. Cloud Computing: applications and types. Artificial intelligence: concept and importance. | |||
Contents of exercises | Basics of computing and using the OS, setting up the control panel in Windows, working with BIOS/UEFI, installing programs and drivers, using WinSCP/PuTTY tools, starting a virtual machine, and the basics of Linux Ubuntu. Working with tools for text formatting, tabular calculations, and visual presentations within the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working with cloud tools. | |||
