    Condition
    The goal Introduce Boolean algebra, switching functions, combinational and sequential switching circuits, logical and memory elements, combinational and sequential modules, and its usage in digital devices construction.
    The outcome By the end of this course, students will be able to: understand the structure of switching circuits; carry out the analysis and synthesis of switching circuits; use combinational and sequential modules, and construct smaller scale digital devices.

    Contents of lectures Boolean algebra. Switching functions. Minimization of switching functions. Functions and structure of switching circuits. Logical elements. Memory elements. Structure, analysis and synthesis of combinational and sequential switching circuits. Standard combinational modules. Standard sequential modules. Digital devices construction.
    Contents of exercises Examples of minimization of switching functions, analysis and synthesis of combinational and sequential circuits. Design of flip-flops. Circuit analysis combining with standard modules (multiplexer, demultiplexer, encoder, decoder, incrementer, decrementer, comparator, ALU, adder and substractor). Design of registers, counters and memory. Construction of a control unit for the operational unit.
