    Condition
    The goal Introduce Boolean algebra, switching functions, switching circuits, logical and memory elements, and combinatorial and sequential modules.
    The outcome By the end of this course, students will be able to: understand the structure of switching circuits; carry out the analysis and synthesis of switching circuits; use combinatorial and sequential modules.

    Contents of lectures Boolean algebra. Switching functions. Minimization of switching functions. Functions and structure of switching circuits. Logical elements. Memory elements. Structure, analysis and synthesis of combinatorial and sequential switching circuits. Standard combinatorial modules. Standard sequential modules.
    Contents of exercises Examples of minimization of switching functions, analysis and synthesis of combinational and sequential circuits. Design of flip-flops. Circuit analysis combining with standard modules (multiplexer, demultiplexer, priority encoder, decoder, incrementer, decrementer, comparator, and an arithmetic logic unit, adder and substractor). Design of registers, counters and memory.
