13E023TVN1 - High Voltage Technique 1

Course specification
Course title High Voltage Technique 1
Acronym 13E023TVN1
Study programme Electrical Engineering and Computing
Module Power Engineering
Type of study bachelor academic studies
Lecturer (for classes)
Lecturer/Associate (for practice)
Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
ESPB 5.0 Status elective
Condition No
The goal Introduction to origin of the lightning discharge parameters. Transmission line wave traveling and calculation of the lightning overvoltages. Switching overvoltages. Temporary overvoltages. Protection of the power engineering structures (transmission and distribution electrical networks, substations, structures).Insulation coordination.
The outcome Students gain general knowledge about the causes of overvoltages, and the consequences of their actions. Students are trained to perform a selection of devices for the protection and insulation coordination procedure.
