The goal Introduce basics of the receiving and transmitting antennas and basics of the radio wave propagation, according to modern telecommunications needs.
The outcome Train students to identify, formulate and solve basic engineering problems requiring knowledge of antennas and radio wave propagation.

Contents of lectures Basic theory of receiving and transmitting antennas. Analysis and synthesis methods. Hertz dipole. Loop antenna. Huygens radiator. Thin wire antennas. Antenna arrays. Horn antennas. Reflector antennas. Lens antennas. Slot antennas. Attenuation of radio waves in free space. Surface wave. Space wave. Tropospheric wave. Diffraction of radio waves. Wave propagation through ionosphere.
