| The goal | Design of a power transformer means an iterative calculation process for achieving transformer parameters by varying its construction and its basic technical drawing. The goal of the design is to minimize material and power losses while obtaining specified transformer technical characteristics. | |||
| The outcome | To realize the relation between the construction parameters and operating characteristics of the transformer. The knowledge is needed in the engineering process of the transformer specification and purchasing, as well as in design and the construction of the transformer. | |||
| Contents | ||||
| Contents of lectures | Specifications for the transformer to be designed. Explaining the instructions and needed diagrams. The sample drawing of the transformer of the type of designed transformer. Consultancy over the semester. | |||
| Contents of exercises | Selection of the material and calculation of the dimensions of the magnetic circuit.Selection of the winding type and calculation of the electrical characteristics.Calculation of the temperature rise and check of dynamic stress by short-circuit.Selection and sizing of cooling system.Characteristics of the design transformer and comparison with input specifications.Technical drawing. | |||
