    The goal Introduce students to the high voltage devices and current interruption phenomena in high voltage circuit breakers.
    The outcome Make students capable to understand the operating principles of high voltage devices. Introduce students to AC and DC current interruption phenomena and stresses in the circuit breakers during short-circuit current interruption.

    Contents of lectures Types of high voltage devices. Contacts resistance. Contacts heating. Electric arc. Operating principles of different types of circuit breakers. Interruption of short circuit current. Stresses in the circuit breakers after the electric arc extinguishing.
    Contents of exercises Practical exercises throughout completely worked set of problems, laboratory measurements and computer simulations.
