The goal Design procedures of different wireless networks. Design procedures of wireless networks with multi-channel multi-interface nodes. Comparative analysis of medium access control techniques and routing metrics (for different routing protocols) with regard to throughput, delay, jitter, energy efficiency.
The outcome Students are familiar with the principles of working the different types of modern wireless networks. They could work on their own on proposing changes in the MAC layer protocols and, also, on defining routing algorithms to improve the performance of the whole network.
      Contents
Contents of lectures Technical concepts of WLAN, 3GPP, sensor, mesh, and WiMax networks. Architecture, the MAC layer protocols (medium access control), mobility management protocols, security in wireless networks. The interoperability between 3GPP and WLAN networks. Routing techniques. The concept of single- and multi-channel (single- and multi-interface) nodes.
Contents of exercises Independent research, both theoretical and practical, work of candidates.
