      The goal The course objective is to provide students with the ability to understand and applay modern information technologies and software engineering concepts in the domen of power engineering.
      The outcome As a result, students will be able to understand modern IT concepts, methods and technologies, as well as software engineering cocnepts. Also will be able to apply these architectures and tools in practice and to participate in the complex IT projects within power engineering domain.
      Contents
      Contents of lectures Information technologies: Information systems and databases. System architecture, system integration, implementation. IT standards. IT applications in electric power engineering:Business, technical, GIS systems. Measurement and information control systems. Simulation-training systems. IT components of the smart grids. Software engineering. system life cycle.
      Contents of exercises This part is related with a student asquitance with the existing IT solutions applied in the domain, i.e with the SCADA/EMS systems, Data warehouse and decision support systems, and with PQM type sytems.
