The goal Introduce students to the basic concepts of high voltage substations. Explain the basic of the high voltage substation in the distribution and transmission networks and switchgear yards in power plants. Provide students with the ability to design, utilize and maintain high voltage switchgear substations.
The outcome Students acquire the necessary skills for project substations, writing tenders and project assignments.

Contents of lectures Shortcircuit currents. Elements of substations. Interrupt of alternating currents. High voltage interrupt aparatus. Types of the insulators. Types of power cables. Types of circuit breakers. Instrument transformers. Surge arresters. Substation single pole diagrams. SF6 switchgears. Switchgear disposition in substations. Substation grounding system.
Contents of exercises Auditory and laboratory exercises, visit the transmission and distribution switchgear.
