      The goal Overview of the state-of-the-art and research in energy-efficient comunication networks and systems.
      The outcome Provide students with the ability to design and analyse advanced energy-efficient protocols and networked systems.
      Contents of lectures Energy consumption in ICT; distribution by sectors and possibilities for savings. Power profiles of communication devices and their subunits. Strategies to increase energy efficiency: hardware- and protocol-based approaches. Buffer management. Energy-efficient routing. Load balancing. Smart grid applications. Design and optimisation of energy-efficient networks.
