The goal This course deals with analysis and design of RF integrated circuits and systems. The programme aims to provide students with the expertise needed to become employed in today's high-tech business sector or in academic research. This course aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamental facts and theories that underpin RF circuits solutions, today and in the future.
The outcome By the end of the course the student will be able to: - Analyse the high frequency performance of RF integrated electronic devices and circuits -Design and test RF basic integrated electronic circuits such as Low Noise Amplifiers, Mixers, Oscillators, RF Power amplifiers
Contents of lectures Introduction. Distortion and Noise. Model of active and passive integrated RF devices. Matching. Narrowband and wideband LNA. Active and passive mixers. Biasing RF circuits. Frequency synthesizers. Architecture of integrated transceivers. Integrated modulators, demodulators, and detectors. Integrated RF power amplifiers.
Contents of exercises It is performed on PCs using CADENCE, a program for the analysis and design of integrated circuits.
