The goal Introduction to basic principles of telecommunications. The applications in electric power systems.
The outcome After the course, students become familiar with the basic principles of telecommunications systems and their application in electric power systems.
Contents of lectures Model of communications systems. Introduction to information theory. Signals and spectra. Random noise. Analog communication systems. FDM/FDMA. A/D conversion. TDM/TDMA. Digital communications. Powerline communication systems. Optical communication systems. Low voltage powerlines as communications access networks.
